A. W. Marion State Park is located in southern Ohio near Circleville. If you decide to camp at the State Park Campgrounds like we did, don’t just google the State Park. It will take you to the wrong side of the lake. Hargus Lake is not very big but it does take about 20 minutes to drive around to the other side where the State Park Campgrounds is. Sad thing though is that the boat ramp is located on the State Park Side.

We ended up with a very small campsite as it was the last one available, but we had a great time in our large tent. We still had room to set everything up and have a nice fire. The camper host was especially nice and the grandkids made some new friends.

The Lake allows electric motor boats only. We were allowed on the lake with our gas motor, just not allowed to use it. We could only use the trolling motor. Hargus Lake is beautiful, calm and quiet. There are a lot of canoes and kayaks mostly utilizing the lake. We did not catch any fish, only managed to snag a few bites, and a few weeds.

One bit of advice would be to make sure you have oars in the boat. When we got down to the other end of the lake the wind picked up and we were not able to hardly move as we tried to troll back against the wind. Grandchildren are wonderful to have along.

Another thing to mention is that if you need anything, the city of Circleville is not very far away. I highly recommend A. W. Marion State Park Campground near Circleville, Ohio. It is clean, quiet and friendly. It is a wonderful place to camp and we had a great time.
